HYPNOSIS for ADDICTIONS
New York Hypnosis:
No one ever set out to become an addict. And it’s hard for those who do, to ever even think they would one day, become addicted. Most clients report they were just looking to feel different, get high, experience something new, to deaden out some pain and feel better, normal.
But then one day, you are unable to break the hold the drug or substance has over your life. You then start the cycle of hiding, covering up, lying about the problem. These underlying deceptions leave you with a sense of shame …. a sense of guilt.
Who IS AN ADDICT ???
When it first comes to mind, you may think of Alcohol, Cocaine, Marijuana or addiction to pharmaceutical drugs. But addiction overtakes you in many forms: Gambling, cellphone dependence, being on facebook, shopping, computer games, tv, relationships, sex addiction, internet porn, exercise and over eating.
What do addictions have in common? They ARE pleasurable. And because they ARE pleasurable, one finds themselves denying they have a problem and will argue to the death, they are NOT ADDICTED. Sometimes you’ll realize you have an addictive personality and you will move from one addiction to another: For eg. Cigarettes to the nicotine containing e-cigarettes.
You may have experienced a typical human condition, called ‘Denial’, that you, are not an addict. But once you have a dependence upon the behavior for some sort of gratification: Emotional, Physical or chemical, the new addiction now has the power to take over to eventually ruin your life. Maybe not today, but it will eventually rear it’s head up. Honestly, ask yourself why you’re hear today as you are the only one who truly can take back control. But the first step begins in recognition.
John, How Can Your Humanistic Form of NYC Hypnosis and hypnotherapy help me to defeat this addiction?
Originally coming into this work, having grown up in NYC’s Greenwich Village and watching my friends and family members escape the negative, self defeating self image a turbulent neighborhood through drugs, resulting eventually for many, in death, most of them, never wanted to become addicts. They just wanted to feel better. To feel normal. Seriously, They just wanted to STOP FEELING for a while.
As it comes to a critical point, addicts come in with a thought, ‘If I can be reprogrammed to feel the addiction is unpleasurable, so I can feel normal. Or that some miraculous hand of God will swoop down, giving them an enormous surge of willpower that will defeat the temptation. They’re looking for a miracle. And if it were truly that easy, you wouldn’t need me, a therapist, counselors or rehab. You’d just pop on a CD, turn on a youtube hypnosis video and you’d miraculously recover. You know that’s totally unreasonable, because you might have tried.
Why? Because it does not satisfy the EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF ADDICTION!
GETTING TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM, THE FIRST INCIDENT, IS WHERE HYPNOTHERAPY REIGNS SUPREME!
Going to, what we refer to in the hypnosis industry, as the Initial Sensitizing Event. The first time that feeling has been experienced in your body and reframing, disassociating, rescripting to that of what your adult mind desires, is the key to total mind/body domination and self control.
Though specific, feeling dominated, hypnotherapy regression techniques, my specific recipe… which I developed using techniques culminated by the greats in our hypnotic past: Milton Erickson, Elman, Watkins, Esdaile. NLP techniques from Richard Bandler, and a training in pattern installation from the late great Jose Silva, developer of the Silva Method … following emotions manifesting in bodily physical sensations, we’re able to uncover the specific map, the trail of incidents in your life that is responsible for the addictions and limitations and through specific, mental constructs, we’re able to reconstruct a more powerful, positive and dynamic history which anialates and cleanses the associated hurt, guilt, pain, sadness – the self depreciating thoughts that have now manifested in physical sensations.
Your subconscious mind is then open to new realm of peace, prosperity, acceptance, confidence, freedom.
It’s time you make that decision now. 12 step programs, rehabs, outpatient counseling. If you’ve tried it all, time to really consider a proactive approach. Give me a call at the New York City Hypnosis Center. I’ll help you move to where you could not have even dreamed was possible.
What IS An ADDICTION ?
An addiction is no more than the repetitious behavior of a habit that is potentially dangerous and has negative consequences.
An addiction CONTROLS and CONSUMES your life. Making it more important than anything else. even to the devastation of your own health. Once addicted, you will do anything to get your next fix. Whether it be a drug of choice, gambling, sex … and you WILL DO ANYTHING to cover up your addiction by lying or hiding the evidence.
You may notice the classic signs in yourself or a loved one: Impaired control, Erratic behavior, continued use despite drastic and devastating consequences.
What are the seemingly insane and wild, ADDICTIVE BEHAVIOR CHANGES associated with addictions:
CHRONIC LYING, ANGER, IMPULSIVENESS, DECREASING MORAL CONTROL, IRRITABILITY, LACK OF MOTIVATION, unkept appearance, and the big one, DENIAL the problem even exists.
ARE YOU AWARE OF YOUR EMOTIONS WHEN ADDICTED ?
You may be one who is addicted that are aware the consequences your actions have on your family, your life, your health, your freedom. Even if its pharmaceutical (Prescribed) medications, because, without the addiction, you have the feeling you can’t cope with some other crisis or in your life that you are avoiding without the distraction of the addiction, and more than likely, you don’t know how to experience or enjoy your life in any other way.
Simplified, You STAY addicted, because it serves a purpose or addresses an emotional need, and, it feels good – short term gratification.
A SIMPLE LOOK AT HOW AN ADDICTION DEVELOPS!
Initially, an addiction might begin as a bit of distraction, to be part of a social network or group, a feeling of belonging, a feeling of letting off stress, or to, just give yourself some time … some time to think. This lead to a cyclic, habitual pattern, a habit: Feel Bad … DISTRACT ! Unexpected events, things that don’t go as planned, unforeseen, fear of the unknown … and to cope with it, YOU DISTRACT … whatever the behavior, the substance you’ve now firmly imprinted in you.
The Distraction, the drugs, the behaviors, will make you feel good about forgetting the hurt, the anger, or the accumulated pain for a bit, but you know it doesn’t last forever, and the high wears off. The bad feelings return and we repeated the patterns of addiction as it becomes an automatic conditioned response.
Not being able to break this cyclic negative cycle of addiction causes you to feel worse, and how does this effect you? You distract even more. More Drinking, more gambling, more overeating, more shopping, more drugs — as we descend into a hell of our own making.
IS IT EASY TO BREAK ADDICTIONS? WHAT’S THE CATCH?
YOU HAVE TO MAKE THAT DECISION TO CHANGE FOR YOU … AND YOU ALONE! YOU WANT TO BE PART OF THE PROCESS AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS …. MAKE A DIFFERNCE! DROP THE EXCUSES! WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO LOSE?
It’s work! But it’s not a lifetime! But it’s work. You will come face to face to those uncomfortable situations where the additive behavior surfaced, but, during that same session, we will do some powerful releasing, letting go. Like a cut, it hurts a little before it heals. So, with the emotional imprints of the past. But, unlike therapy, this is a process. Not a lifetime of self analysis.
